About Telford Golf Club

Those were the days….

First tee in 1976

This picture is actually of the first tee in 1976 and was used in publicity literature at the time.

Back in 1976 the course was described as an American styled course with large white-sanded bunkers and greens that had such speed that they resembled putting on glass. The quality of the suspended water table greens, which were built with the same soil system as The Augusta National course (home of the US Masters), are still the envy of the majority of visitors.

The actual golf club was established officially as Telford Golf Club on the 12th January 1977 with written permission from Telford Development Corporation. The initial fees to the club and complex were £100 joining fee + £100 PA. It was September 1981 before the current hotel and clubhouse was completed and opened.

A 10 million pound investment by QHotels finished in 2008 has seen this now Spa Hotel become a prestigious 4 star luxury complex. There are still members who have been with the club since it was first formed over 35 years ago and they are Ralph Williams, Prab Gajjar and with Lady members Susan Gregory and Gill Sheward.

Telford Golf Club is situated in a Sutton Heights area of Telford, close to the A442. If you are approaching Telford from the M54 leave the motorway at Junction 5 and follow signs for the A442 in the direction of Kidderminster. The golf club is well signposted as you begin to leave Telford heading towards Kidderminster.

If you are arriving from the Kidderminster direction along the A442, the course is also signposted just as you approach Telford.
