Season’s End…
Telford juniors have signed off the year of open competitions by competing in the last junior open of the year at Patshull Park Golf Club.
As is now the norm! they finished high on the winners rostrum.
Westley Weston won the under 14's section coming in 5 under the card with Liam Kearsley in 3rd place.
Kieran Nickless was in the top 10 in the over 16 section with Sophie Johnson winning the best gross in the girls competition.
Now its down to a winters practice ready for an increase in participants from our club next season.
Cristie Kerr meets her golfing heroes
Ella & Christie Morrow had to take time off from practice at the British Ladies Open ( Hoylake) earlier today when Cristie Kerr stopped by and asked for a photograph!
Joking apart - the 2 time major winner made the 2 young girl’s day by stopping to sign autographs and posing for a picture. Unfortunately the trip to Hoylake was spoiled a bit by high winds forcing play to be abandoned but our 2 young hopefuls made the most of the opportunity to meet their golfing heroes. Other top players who signed the girl's caps were Michelle Wie, Karen Stupples and Morgan Pressel amongst many others.

Boys triumph over girls……but only just!
The first junior boys vs girls match took place on Sunday, with the boys just winning the Firemans Challenge Shield 4-3.
As the junior teams ranged in age from 3 to 16, the matches were set over 3,6 or 9 holes.
The boys team consisted of Kieran Nickless, Joseph Tranter, William Tolley, Daniel Johnson, Sam Watkins, Alex Hall, and Jack Dirkin. Jack is our newest addition, who at the age of just 3, hits a great ball, one to watch for the future!
The girls team consisted of Ella Morrow, Alice Woodcock, Olivia Hall, Shannon Tolley, Christie Morrow and Katie Halliday.
A fun time was had by all those taking part and friendly banter was par for the course!
The two teams can be seen wearing their medals

Olivia Wins Peewee Tour Championship

Olivia Hall has completed a sensational summer of golf by winning the Peewee Tour U9 age category. Olivia collected her prizes after the final round held at Shifnal GC.
Congratulations go to Liam Kearsley who won the boys U13 event thus ensuring a win by a Telford junior player in all of the Peewee Tour competitions this year.
Also representing Telford GC at this event were Joseph Tranter, Cameron Watson, Sam Watkins, Alex Evans and Danny Churm. Well done to you all.
More Success On Peewee Tour For Telford Juniors
I am delighted to report Olivia Hall has won yet another leg of the Peewee Tour for the Under 10 girl’s age group at Market Drayton by a massive 7 shots. Market Drayton is a long and demanding course and all players had to work hard for their places. Olivia now leads the overall competition going in to the final match at Shifnal next Monday.
All the members wish Olivia good luck in her final match and congratulations for her stunning results to date.
I am also pleased to report Joseph Tranter came third in his age group at Market Drayton demonstrating the all-round strength of our club juniors. Well done Joeseph.
I would like to thank Karen Hall for her report.
(Karen – please send in some pictures of Olivia receiving her prizes if possible. This applies to any Mums and Dads who have pictures from any events. Please email them in to Ralph so that we can share our successes on these pages)
Telford juniors travel to the Wrekin on Friday with a patched up team as some of them are away at the Open.
Can we survive a mauling from the red hot favourites and stand a chance with the return leg at home on August 5th?
Its a big test for our reserves!
Just a reminder that Junior Captains Day is this Saturday.
It is £5 entry fee including hot food afterwards. It will be an 18 hole stableford for
red/yellow players and a 9 hole stableford for blue tee players. There will
be prizes for top 3 in each category along with nearest to the pins and
also beat the pro which will be an extra £1 and the winners will be entered
into a raffle to win a £10 shop voucher. There will also be snacks for sale
on the day at low prices with all profits going to the junior fund. For
those blue players that will be teeing off later, there will be a mini golf
competition with a prize for the winner.
If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to contact me!
Thanks
Kieran Nickless

Telford Thrash Shifnal ..........
In a full first weekend of the SHUGC junior league, Telford played some sloppy golf and lost 3.5 - 2.5 at The Shropshire and then beat favourites Shifnal 6-0 at Telford!
With every player disappointed with the show at The Shropshire a great rally destroyed highly rated Shifnal.

This Sunday at 2:30 we take on the course when we get out for the real thing.
26/8/2010
Rain! Rain! Rain!
With Telford getting lots of rain it was not surprising we had a low turnout for the Wednesday tuition.
But a few turned up with new recruits Molly Pritchard, Adam and Claire Edwards joining our band.
Wednesday get togethers will continue through September and beyond if juniors keep showing interest in improving their golf!
Lets hope there is no rain next week!

deceptive. With 8 on the putting green, 9 on the pitching area and 6 on the course it was a good turn out. Another 4 juniors have already developed CONGU handicaps and are out playing with the adult members in the Wednesday night Stableford !
