IT'S A HATRICK OF WINS !

Telford have won the inter club Triangular Trophy for the 3rd time in succession. -----

This competition, played between Telford Patshull and Worfield, looked like it was going to the wire with Telford holding a slender lead going to the hill top course of Worfield.

But with all of our 8 pairings scoring level par or better Telford clinched victory.

All we have to do now is find the shield

AND NOW IT IS OFFICIAL

Have we not all thought our course was harder than it is said to be.

Well we were right!

The EGU have been here, re examined the course and altered the SSS to 73, 1 over par.

And ..... did we all not think that the course played longer than it's 6741 yards.

Well the answer to that feeling is simple.

The EGU have re measured the course and it is 6809 yards long!

The re assessment was carried out by L.R.Snelling of the County Union and J.Crampton of the English Golf Union on the 28th September 2008.

TELFORD LOSE JOHN STOBBS TROPHY

but strengthen the bond!

For the first time since the spring of 2005 Telford have failed to retain the Little Hay Great Hay Sheild.

Having won on the first day 4.5 matches to 1.5 matches on Sunday they surrendered the lead and lost the event by 6.5 games to 5.5 games

John Stobbs was a golf Writer who at the age of 63 still played of a handicap of 1.

He noticed in 1978 that two Golf Courses with almost the same names opened in 1977, Little Hay in Hemel hempstead, and Great Hay in Shropshire.

John thought it would be a good thing for the game of golf if these 2 Clubs got together and arranged a match.

Little did anyone know that 30 years later they would still be playing each other twice a year.

He came to Telford for the 10th anniversary of this event and at 73 years old covered our front nine in 39 strokes

TERRY OSBORNE MEMORIAL TROPHY

Terry Osborne was part of the original team who set up and inaugurated Telford Golf Club in January 1977.

He died of a heart attack in 1979 just as the golf course was changing into the private hands of Country Club Hotels who were in the process of building the Hotel and Leisure complex.
